Privacy policy

Short version: we run an information website. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not sell personal information, and we collect as little as we can while still knowing whether anything we write is being read.

Who we are

Crypto Maryland publishes crypto-maryland.com, an independent information website about cryptocurrency in the State of Maryland. You can reach us at contact@crypto-maryland.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to reply and to handle corrections. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure records standard technical data when a page is requested — IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages viewed. This is used to keep the site running and to understand which pages are useful.

What we do not collect. We do not ask for your name, address, date of birth, financial information, wallet addresses or identity documents. We have no accounts, no logins and no user profiles. Nothing on this site should ever ask you for a recovery phrase, a private key or an exchange password — if anything claiming to be us does, it is not us.

Cookies and analytics

We aim to keep cookie use minimal. Where analytics are used, they are configured to measure aggregate readership rather than to build profiles of individuals, and we do not use them for advertising retargeting.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers offer a "do not track" preference. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading anything on this site.

Third-party links

This site links to external websites, including exchanges, government agencies and reference sources. Some of those links are commercial partnerships, which is disclosed in our footer and on our editorial policy page. All external links carry rel="nofollow".

When you follow a link away from this site, you are subject to the destination's privacy policy rather than ours. We have no control over what other sites collect. That applies particularly to exchanges, which are required by law to collect identity information from you as part of their own compliance obligations.

How we use information

  • To operate and secure the website
  • To understand which pages readers find useful, in aggregate
  • To reply to emails and process corrections
  • To comply with legal obligations where they apply

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Data retention

Technical logs are retained only as long as needed for operational and security purposes. Email correspondence is retained while it is relevant to a correction or an ongoing conversation.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold very little — essentially just email correspondence and standard server logs — such requests are usually straightforward. Email contact@crypto-maryland.com and we will respond.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. Material changes will be reflected here. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
